Event participation: XXII Brazilian Symposium on Water Resources, Florianópolis (SC)

November 26, 2017

Based on the studies carried out in the “Analysis of Fluviometric Data Consistency of Operating ANA Monitoring Stations” (Contract Number 010/ANA/2015), RHA presented the paper “METHOD PROPOSITION FOR QUALIFICATION OF FLUVIOMETRIC SERIES” at the XXII Brazilian Symposium on Water Resources, which took place between November 26 and December 1, 2017, in Florianópolis-SC.

METHOD PROPOSITION OF FOR QUALIFICATION OF FLUVIOMETRIC SERIES:

Abstract –The basic input for hydrological studies is the data obtained from hydrometeorological monitoring networks installed in the country. The fluviometric series, obtained from the series of water level readings at the stations and the rate-discharge ratio provided by the discharge curve, are essential in the evaluation of water availability in the river basins; for evaluating flows associated with extreme events (floods or droughts); for generating statistics for hydraulic projects; and, overall, to subsidize the management of water resources in the national territory. This work proposes an objective method for qualifying fluviometric series, using sixteen well-defined criteria. The proposed method enables comparisons between stations. This comparative analysis of the fluviometric series, which attributes a concept of quality to each of the stations, should be understood as an indicative and does not eliminate the need for personal professional analysis of flow series in the concerned station.
