New post: studies on the improvement in the charging mechanisms for water use of Paraíba do Sul River Basin

Recently RHA has issued an executive report on the improvement in the charging mechanisms for water use of the Paraíba do Sul River basin to be presented to the Comitê de Integração da Bacia Hidrográfica do Rio Paraíba do Sul (CEIVAP, Committee for the Integration of Paraíba do Sul River Basin) and Associação Pró-Gestão das Águas da Bacia Hidrográfica do Rio Paraíba do Sul (AGEVAP, Pro-Management Association of Paraíba do Sul River Basin).

One of the considerable challenges of this project was to accommodate the different views of the institutions and players in the Paraíba do Sul River basin. The elected strategy was to propose a versatile and flexible mechanism, aiming to offer technical support to CEIVAP on its choice of aspired principles of charging mechanisms. The proposed mechanism was based on benchmarking studies of national and international charging methods, furthermore, we simulated different levying scenarios, considering the Programa de Investimentos do Plano de Bacia (Basin Funding Plan Programme).
